1. JOY's Intellectual Property

The following are the exclusive intellectual property of Joy Health Technologies LLC, protected by US copyright law and applicable international treaties:

• The JOY application code (iOS and Android), screens, UI designs, and layouts
• The JOY brand name, logo, and tagline "Because every memory matters."
• The curated prompt library (63+ wellness and reminiscing prompts)
• All written content produced by Joy Health Technologies LLC including this website, legal documents, and in-app copy
• Session flow structure and brain game designs created by Joy Health Technologies LLC

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or exploit any JOY-owned intellectual property without our prior written consent.

2. Your Content

You retain all copyright ownership of photos, voice recordings, written messages, and captions you upload to JOY ("Your Content"). By uploading content, you grant Joy Health Technologies LLC a limited license to store and display Your Content solely to deliver the JOY service to your family account — nothing more.

We do not claim ownership of Your Content. We do not use Your Content for marketing, advertising, or AI training without your explicit consent.

3. Your Responsibility for Uploaded Content

When you upload content to JOY, you represent that:

• You own the copyright in the content, or have explicit permission from the copyright owner to upload and share it
• The content does not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right
• You have obtained any necessary consents from individuals depicted in photos or recordings

Common examples of what is NOT acceptable: uploading professionally photographed portraits you do not own the rights to, uploading copyrighted music or video clips, uploading photographs taken by professional photographers without a license to share.

Common examples of what IS acceptable: personal family photos you or a family member took, scanned personal photographs from your own collection, self-recorded voice messages.

4. Third-Party Content in the App

JOY uses open-source libraries and third-party services (React Native, Expo, Firebase, etc.) under their respective licenses. We comply with all applicable license terms. A list of open-source components is available upon request.

JOY uses Google Fonts (Cormorant Garamond and Inter) under the SIL Open Font License and Apache License 2.0 respectively.

5. Copyright Infringement

If you believe content accessible through JOY infringes your copyright, please see our DMCA Policy for instructions on submitting a takedown notice. We respond to valid DMCA notices within 10 business days.
