Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the boundaries of permissible use of the JOY application and website. It supplements our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. By using JOY, you agree to comply with this AUP.
1. Permitted Uses
You may use JOY to:
- Complete daily wellness sessions as a senior user
- Upload family photos, voice messages, written messages, and voice questions as a caregiver
- View activity insights and session reports as a caregiver
- Connect with a loved one as a Memory Companion and send curated prompts
- Manage your account, notification settings, and profile
- Contact support for help with the app
2. Prohibited Technical Uses
You may not:
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code from JOY
- Use automated bots, scripts, crawlers, or scrapers to access or extract data from JOY
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of JOY's systems or networks without express written permission from Joy Health Technologies LLC
- Introduce malware, viruses, trojans, ransomware, or any malicious code
- Conduct denial-of-service (DoS or DDoS) attacks against JOY infrastructure
- Bypass, disable, or circumvent any authentication or security measure
- Access another user's account without their explicit permission
- Use the API or backend services in unauthorized ways not described in the app
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of JOY or its infrastructure
- Attempt to intercept or modify network traffic between the app and Firebase
3. Prohibited Content Uses
You may not use JOY to upload, transmit, or display content that:
- Is sexually explicit, pornographic, or obscene
- Depicts or promotes violence, self-harm, or abuse
- Is defamatory, harassing, intimidating, or threatening toward any individual
- Promotes hate, discrimination, or violence based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or national origin
- Infringes any third party's copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right
- Violates the privacy rights of any individual (e.g., uploading photos of people without their consent, especially in sensitive or private contexts)
- Contains false, misleading, or deceptive representations designed to manipulate your loved one
- Constitutes or facilitates elder abuse, exploitation, or financial fraud
- Constitutes spam, unsolicited commercial communication, or advertising
- Violates any applicable local, state, federal, or international law
4. Prohibited Identity and Account Uses
- Creating accounts under false identities or impersonating another individual
- Creating accounts for a senior user without their knowledge or consent
- Sharing account credentials with individuals outside the authorized family group
- Creating multiple accounts to circumvent suspensions or bans
5. Medical and Safety Boundaries
- You may not use JOY as a substitute for emergency services. Call 911 in emergencies.
- You may not use JOY to deliver medical diagnoses, treatment plans, or clinical recommendations to senior users.
- You may not represent JOY as a HIPAA-compliant health platform to senior users or their healthcare providers.
6. Consequences of Violation
Violations of this AUP may result in, at our sole discretion:
- Removal of specific content
- Temporary suspension of account access
- Permanent termination of account
- Reporting to relevant law enforcement or regulatory authorities
- Legal action for damages
7. Reporting Violations
If you believe someone is using JOY in violation of this AUP — particularly in ways that may harm a senior user — please contact us immediately.
