JOY is a wellness and family connection application designed to support daily routine, emotional well-being, and family closeness for older adults. This Medical Disclaimer explains the limits of what JOY is and what it is not, so users and families can make informed decisions about using the app alongside โ€” not in place of โ€” professional healthcare.

1. JOY Is Not a Medical Device

JOY has not been evaluated, cleared, or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or any equivalent regulatory body in any country. JOY is not classified as a medical device under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act or any equivalent law. It is a general wellness application as defined by FDA guidance for mobile health apps.


2. No Medical Advice

Nothing in JOY โ€” including but not limited to breathing exercises, brain games, wellness check-in questions, reminiscing prompts, AI-generated content, or any push notification โ€” constitutes medical advice, clinical guidance, diagnosis, or treatment recommendation.

JOY's wellness check-in questions (covering exercise, sleep, meditation, bowel habits, dental hygiene, and breathing) are for personal self-reflection only. They are not diagnostic tools, and responses are not reviewed by any healthcare professional. Do not use JOY responses to self-diagnose or modify prescribed treatments.


3. JOY Is Not a Substitute for Professional Care

JOY does not interface with electronic health record (EHR) systems or transmit data to healthcare providers.


7. Reliance on This Application

Joy Health Technologies LLC expressly disclaims all liability for any adverse outcomes โ€” physical, psychological, or otherwise โ€” that may arise from reliance on information, features, or activities within JOY. Use JOY as a supplement to, not a replacement for, qualified professional healthcare.
